Or I should start quilting "the peacock" quilt
....but instead I decided to get those blocks out. This is my baby jungle quilt I started maybe 6 months ago and I feel like working on those cuties :)

Sneak peak of my new project

A few clues about my next project. On another news, I manage to stab myself with the dull side if a sewing needle in the finger. It was very benign but it got infected so no hand sewing for this lady until it get better.

Finishes for 2015.

2015 has been a good year quilting wise. I started this blog in August and since then got almost 12 000 views......so that is fantastic. I tried many new technique and learn so much. I also started writing and selling my patterns. It is really strange for me to know that people like so much what I did that they want to do it for themselves.

Can't wait to see what 2016 will bring :)

Those are my finishes for 2015

One last gift....oh wait

I finally finish the castle pillow I want to give my DD BFF :) They are such good friends that they call themselves twins.....

Just need to fill this pillow....I hope she will like it :)

I was sure I was done until I saw a very neat tutorial for pillowcase :) So back at my machine today.

Borrowing from the long arms quilters

Disclaimer!!!!!
You should not do this technique if you do not have the appropriate foot and rulers. If the ruler happen to slide under the foot and hit the needle, it can brake your machine and you wont be happy!

That being said I used my inappropriate ruler and my inappropriate foot to quilt on my domestic sewing machine....I am such a rebel :)

I suck at doing straight lines when doing free motion quilting. Since my present project had many of those, to many changes if direction to use my walking foot, I decided to try the ruler technique ( you can see here a class about this technique Quilting with rulers on home machine )

Or read the teacher's blog right here Amy's free motion Quilting

I am very happy with the results, my line look great (my circles are not that hot :) but this quilt will probably be a VERY good practice)

Want to hear a funny thing I learned lately. Freezer paper is not sold in Quebec!!! I guess us french Canadian are too simple minded folks not to put freezer paper in the oven...so to save us from ourselves, we can't buy it anywhere in the province. I had to get a roll at my local quilt shop for 12$ a roll.
Insane. So if any of my loyal readers want to ship me a Christmas gift, wink wink LOL

I have a Friday finish. My lovely lady is done so I can cross that one too on my to do list :) I might pick up some of the stitches on her....it look like she has a weird skin condition but for the moment they stay.

First time trying McTavishing quilting style on a quilt,
first portait,
first time doing confetti technique (the wisteria flowers)

- Lady at bath
- Mystahhhhhry quilt. So late on that one :(
-  Fall colours ....still ripping the pebbles I FMQ on it.....it is taking forever!!!
- The dancer. Quilting right now.

On my design wall this Monday

I am making a pillow for my little girl best friend :)
I am using the Castle part of the "once upon a time" quilt designed by Christine Sharp and Racheal Wright. It is rare I use someone else pattern but it is so cute.

And this is my interpretation :) The back will be 4 patch using the fabrics in the front.

Not as creative as you usually see on this blog but still a load of fun :)

My Class recommendation

Color play for Quilters

I recommend this class for every quilter. I have to admit, it is not a convivial class. The teacher sound unsure of being in front of the camera. It is awkward and don't start counting the number of hummmm. That being said it will change the way you look at colors and will vastly improve your work. Do the class work, paint those cards!!!!! Do it even if it takes days to make them....take the time, it is worth it. It is more like a college class than most craftsy class and it is full of information. If you need take this class in small dose :)

Peacock....done or not....that is the question

That is where I am right now with this quilt. It is missing a few things but those I want to add while quilting it. For now it feel ...empty. It is missing it's story so until he tell it to me, I will put him aside.
Wrote the pattern. It is a raw pattern so you have to be quite used to applique. I will write a more complete pattern with all the explanations soon. http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/the-peacock/180593?rceId=1450061995640~edicnitr

Growing and growing.

I am in love with this project. I am in awe of the fact that I am finally able to take this idea I had in my head and have him take form with fabrics. I am not very good at drawing, painting is even worst....so to finally have a medium that help me express my creativity is liberating.  It is a balm on my soul. Finding something that I am good at is wonderful

My peacock is growing and I am growing along :)

The lady top done

I am really happy with this piece. This is a scrappy art quilt, no new fabric at all for her, all from my stash and my scraps bin. I had her in my mind for a long time and I am happy I got around to make her. I saw that stained glass free pattern on Pinterest, she can be found here
http://www.sg-patterns.com/free-stained-glass-patterns114.htm
I modified her to suite my taste and easier to appliqué. For the longest time, I imagined her in front of the window but I made a few background and it was just not working. The wisterias idea came of nowhere and I knew it was what I needed.

She was my November goal at "a year of lovely finish" so I am happy to be done for the top. Next step is thread painting and quilting.

Lady at bath has a background

Nothing fancy for now but after changing my mind at least 5 times I think I have a workable idea.

Summer Sun is ready to shine

The Summer Sun quilt is finally done. I started this quilt in the middle of a cold and grey spring where everything was colourless outside. I needed bold colours and picked the orange fabric in my stash....don't ask me what it was doing there, I hate orange but this quilt made me love it. The grey, white and beige borders frame nicely the blocks. For quilting I used what I learned in the "dot to dot quilting " Crafty class with Angela Walters. Love this class and it was perfect for this quilt.

Now I can cross one thing on my to do list

- Lady at bath......working on different backgrounds but can't find what I want yet.....
- mystahhhhhry quilt. Didn't start clue 9 yet.
-  Fall colours ....still ripping the pebbles I FMQ on it.....it is taking forever!!!
- The dancer. Didn't touched her this week
- Summer Sun done.
- Cat at twilight, same as last week ;)

Mystahhhhhry along with hillbilies #4

Slowly but surely growing.

I also started this one. I had an image of grey and lime green together and I had to do it. I have no idea where this idea came, I didn't even have that green in my stash.
