Stuck

Remember this quilt? I am stuck stuck stuck......If it was big enough....I would not add a border but it is too small and I want it to be a usable quilt. Problem is I hate every border I audition for it. Argggg.

Not quite finish but it will do

This baby quilt was a load of fun!!!! I still have appliqué to do all over the quilt but the baby animals just make me smile. Also those are not colors I usually use but they are perfect for this quilt.

Needle turn applique

One of my "rule" is to try something new every quilt.....and many time many new things in the same quilt. This time I decided to use needle turn applique technique to add interest to my baby jungle quilt. I will probably ask myself why I had such an idea after appliqueing a gazillion (or 20) flowers :) It is interesting but I am not sure if the results are worth the time. We will see.

Just a little trick

When marking darker fabrics....use soap that is too thin :) It work great...is pretty much free and that way my kids won't smooch the soap into a paste and stick it on the bath walls !!!! I started quilting my peacock quilt as you can see :)

Test of my peacock pattern

I asked one of my friend to test my peacock pattern for me. She did an awesome job!!!! Love how colorful her version is.

Here is the link to the pattern. You have to know your way around applique to use it.

Peacock pattern

On my wall this week

Still adding friends to my baby jungle quilt.  Baby Monkey is taking shape and I also started one of the bigger panel. I have a very vague idea of the overall quilt :)

Baby jungle....giraffe

It is still missing it's hoofs but here is the latest baby jungle friend. He was a tricky one. It took me 3 tries to be satisfied

This was the second attempt....I didn't even take a picture of the first one lol ....not even close of having enough contrast!!!

and here is my 3rd attempt :) I used my Neocolors to tint the fabric and used orange thread instead of white.

Done!!!

Let's try something different

I got myself a mini charm pack from free spirit Denyse Schmidt modern solids. Those 2.5" x 2.5" squares are just too cute to resist but I had no idea how to use  them.

I could have done an Irish chain quilt but felt "Meh" about this idea. I remembered seeing a quilt that I could use those tiny squares in but I wanted to make it my own too. Here is my inspiration. I do not know who made it so if you know please tell me in the comments

Cute!!!!

And here is my version. Hopefully it will be as cute. I only added one triangle instead of 2 but like I said I wanted to make it my own. :) It feel quite modern since I only use solids and I am going from soft in the middle and darker as the quilt get bigger. I will probably quilt it with different colors wavy lines.

Under my needle...the dancer

The dancer lived in my head for about 6 months before I was able to put her on fabric. At first she was just a silhouette in movement. The 3D tutu was also an issue because I was not sure how to make it. Many different attempt were made to finally make it happen. I am thinking of adding ribbons to it but for now it stay as it is.

The quilting was fun and a bit frustrating....i don't think I have one single circle that is round on my pearl strings  :) but that is ok.

Edited....she is done :)
