Busy busy busy

First let me tell you about a blog hop I will be participating next week!!!! When Alida from Tweety love quilting asked me to join....I was pretty much jumping up and down in my kitchen. How not to be excited when we have to reinterpret classical art into a quilt!!!! Painting, drawing, sculpture for all time period. I knew exactly who I wanted to inspire me and made a small wall hanging. I hope that you will join us for this blog hop :)

I appliqué my fox om his background. At first I was thinking of using an ombré  fabric that is coming soon but I was always going back to this batik......It is just too perfect. I might play around and see what I want to add...... I just know that I will add this quote "To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world....” that is why I put the fox on the side.

And I finished quilting a second butterfly. It is now with his pal on my living room wall :)

The little prince

I love "the little prince" book. In fact it is my favorite book. My fox remind me of the fox in the story so I decided to use this for to make a "little prince" inspired quilt. I can just hope I will give it justice.

“I am looking for friends. What does that mean -- tame?"

"It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. "It means to establish ties."

"To establish ties?"

"Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world....”

On my wall this week

My low poly fox is taking shape. I really love how playful this little fox look.....Even without his eyes :) The background is just for show for now. I should get some ombré fabric soon so I will wait to get them before choosing.

I am also working on a secret project..... I am participating in a blog hop very soon....can't wait to tell you more about it but it was wildly inspiring and a great fun.

Finish friday....the week of the small stuff

I have 2 finish for today. My mini mini quilt and my red scrappy butterfly :) For my butterfly collection, I decided to finish them as small wall hanging. If I decide after a time that I want to make a big quilt, I will just join them using the "quilt as you go" methode.
It is 24" x 15"

For the mini mini, it is 7" x 6.5". Each square is 0.5"

Just for fun

I made a mini Mini Quilt :)

It is 7" x 6.5"

Making a "plus" quilt was on my "want to do" list......

Well ok it is still on my list but it was fun working with those half inch finished squares. I had a hiccup for the bottom right corner so it is not square lol

Getting that idea out of my head

While browsing Pinterest (the time black hole) I saw a low poly art picture and I knew I wanted to see if I could replicate this on fabric. After many attempts, I found a way to that work for me and developed a technique between paper piecing and appliqué. I still have to sew the pieces together but I really like it!!! For my experimentation, I used someone else art. Sadly I was not able to find the name of the artist.

And this is my result

I was also able to finish my yellow scrappy butterfly :)

Pincushion exchange

I entered a pincushion exchange organised by Bea of http://www.beaquilter.com/

It is the first time doing it and it is a load of fun. Here is 2 I made...I should have done one before....I use to place my pins all over the place (still in safe places because of kids and cats)

I can understand how they can get addicting :)

Well it is Friday something......

My scrappy butterfly are doing nothing to lower my scrap bins......but they are making such nice blocks. I am not sure if they will end up being many wall hangings or a quilt :) Looking at my bins I could easily do 6 in total.
