In my to do list this week

I will "try" to only keep 2 projects in rotation this week.

My first is this very cute low poly Dragon. He is absolutely adorable!!!! Made by this wonderful friend and artist  Jennifer Tamochunas

Second project is quilting my Koi Quilt. I will do an overall FMQ for the background and probably scales on the fish :)....I am still undecided for the black borders.

Birds in the garden

This top is done :) It is perfect for big pattern fabrics. I was not quite sure I liked this top frankly .....until I put the birds on the quilt. For me it was lacking a story and now it has one :)

You see the blue squares? Those were a pain in the neck!!! Not because they were hard to cut or sew, They were hard to choose lol. I auditioned so many fabrics....I tried different yellow to see if I wanted to use a complimentary color

nope

Triadic ?

burk

Use the little bit of green on the flower fabric?

Oh god no

Analogous?

Pale blue didn't worked but finally the dark blue worked. I usually do not have that much trouble lol

Well ok....so this happened

Remember when I said I would not start anything new until I finish quilting my other tops? Well this happened.....

On Pinterest I saw this Muslim pattern and knew I wanted to turn it into a quilt top.

After a bit of math I started pulling fabric. Since the center "star" is 10 inches square,, I choose a very rich, big print fabric that I just could not cut into (it is even more stunning in person called In the Beginning Paradise by Jason Yenter Purple Berry Paradise Blooms)

But AFTER that one.....I will finish quilting the tops that are already done

When life give you lemons....make a table runner

This week I finished quilting the 8 blocks that I didn't print the right size and made it a table runner. It was such a pleasure to quilt to death :) This is my first table runner ...ever. I used to have cats and any table runner would become a bed full of fur in 5 minutes flat....so I never bothered. Since moving in with my dear significant other, I had to rehome my kitties because he is deathly allergic. He really have to be a special man for me to make that sacrifice!!!!

That being said it wont be the last one I make!!!!

On this nice fall Monday

I am itching to start a new quilt!!! I have so many ideas, but I have to be a good girl and finish quilting at least 2 quilt and one table runner

After practicing on paper I was ready to go
to my sewing machine.

And the results were positive but I need to elongate the design a bit when I am on the machine

I started quilting my table runner.....(aka when you make mistake let's call it an alternative pattern ) Since it is small I am having fun quilting it to death.

Still trying to find inspiration on quilting the big quilt (still unnamed by the way)

I also have to find a home for my cougar!!!!

So as you can see my plate is pretty full but I still have the itch to pull fabric and start something else....I have so many ideas!!!!

The I participated in the Art with fabric blog hop. You can read all about it here

I also worked on my low poly cougar....it is coming along great....I just need to add some foliage around him so he can live on the mountain.

And finally I finished my unnamed quilt top!!!! Ouf.....like I said....what a week :)

Art with fabric blog hop....my turn

My inspiration is Malika Favre her style is described as Pop Art meets OpArt....I would add also a touche of Art deco in my (very uneducated) opinion. Whatever box we can try to put her, she tickle my fancy as a applique designer!!!! Let's just look at "Dame du soir" just 3 colors, a few curves and here appears a very sensual woman. We know nothing about her but we see just enough to want to know more.

Her bold colors and pure lines really inspired me and made me look at things differently. Every quilt I make is a discovery, of techniques for sure but more about who I am as an artist....it is like lightening one candle at a time and with time, I should discover new facet of myself. This is why an artist interest me or does not.

The piece of art I choose to reproduce is call Sephora and was produced for the french company of the same name.

This woman is so sexy and so ......french :) The hat, the red lips and nails....I love it. I decided to reproduce it exactly because I wanted to internalize the process.

I was also inspired for my own manicure  :) Here we can see a bit more of the texture I FMQ. It was a wonderful project and I hope you enjoyed it.

Now go see the other ladies from today's blog hop.

Heather @ heatherquilts (http://www.heatherquilts.blogspot.com/)

I have been working on this paper piecing quilt....I am having trouble finding a fitting name to this one!!!! I was thinking of "Glacier" or "Cold Winter"

I made a mistake while printing ( well the love of my life did but let's not talk about this ) and 8 of my blocks were not the right size. I was able to make an alternative layout and this one was my favorite.

Finish Friday 06/10/2016

Ok ok not quite finish, just the flimsy. The little Koi finally found his place in the sea. It was very windy and this was the best picture I could get. Note to self.....iron before picture!!!!

I started doodling ideas for what kind of quilting I will do and I think I have a winning motif. Now I just need more hours doodling and practicing before tackling this fish.

I also finished the head of my cougar.....I now need to find his home. I have nothing in my stash that is working..... I will add a bit of his chest too.....I do not like floating heads :) I also have to work on his eyes....pretty sure I will use my Inktense or Neocolors to give him a bit of personality
