2017 Planning Party Linkup!!

Welcome to the 2017 Planning Party Linkup organised by quiltingJETgirl. It is the occasion to look forward to 2017.

2016 was a very good year for my quilting life but frankly it was horrible personally on health news, on the world news, celebrity death and politics....so maybe that is why my quilting life was so good! My blog had its first anniversary with 40 000 views, participated at many blog hops,  met my mentor and decided to rent a booth at the Toronto Quilt Canada 2017.

So for 2017 the big project is Quilt Canada expo in June. I am scared to death sprinkled with a big spoonful of "what was I thinking" and a dash of self doubts. My hope is to have 25 patterns for sell then
(8 are done....6 are under way)

Once the more commercial part of my quilting is out of the way, I really want to explore more art quilts. I can't work because of my health but I am still only 43 years old. At Concordia University....there is a Fiber and Material Practice Bachelor program  How cool is that!!!! I would really want to do it part time....I could not do it full time because my narcolepsy would make it impossible but even if it take me 10 years to get my diploma...who cares. Here some of the class :

  • Fibre Structures
  • Textile Printing and Dyeing
  • Paper: Surface and Object
  • History of Textile Art and Aspects of the History of Textile Art
  • Special Topics Courses such as Extreme Fibres, Transformative Cloth, Textiles and Identity or Digital Technologies and Material Practices.
How not to be excited!!!!! It might not be for 2017 but I will build a portfolio and cross my fingers for 2018.

So there you have it.......2017 will be interesting to say the least

  1. Sorry to hear you've had health worries, this year was pretty rubbish for me too. Next year does sound exciting, a university course! I'd love to go back and study something creative.

  2. Go for it. Don't focus on the "date" of a finish, but the opportunity and fun of learning. Even if you only get to take one class in 2017, I'm sure you'll enjoy following your dream. Best gift you can ever give yourself.

  3. You can do it! I am 63 and keep telling myself that I am never too old to follow my dreams...so even though your health is kicking you in the rear, don't give up! You won't be sorry! Don't wait until you are my age and wish you had done it sooner....something always seems to get in the way, right? Cheering you onward, my friend!

  11. I hope that you enjoy working toward all your 2017 goals, and I especially hope your health in 2017 is better than it sounds like it was for you in 2016. That degree program sounds amazing! Thank you so much for linking up.
