Heartbroken part 2

Following the Quebec City Shooting, I felt the need to create to work with my emotions. I made this table runner and wrote the names of the victims on it.

Heartbroken

Today I am heartbroken,

This happened in my own province, It killed people that believe the same thing my neighbors, my daughter  best friend and my landlord believe. I live in a part of Montreal that is called "the little Lebanon", Where you can get the best Shishtaouk chicken. For me, "Muslims" are not a vague group of people, they have faces and names.

Add that to what is happening in the USA....I feel the need to create something that will sooth my soul. I don,t know what yet but those colors seem appropriate for how I feel right now. Something all crooked for my lost of the peace and center that I feel in my soul. I might even not show the result or just burn it....but I don't know how to cope any other way right now.

It is done and I am so very happy with the result. Everything just worked togather better than I ever expected.

And the backing is Micheal Miller Jug or Not? How wonderful is this print?

Green scraps and a bunny

My Ode to coffee is giving me grief. Yesterday I quilted part of it....than pick it because I didn't like it. Started quilting again....and today I will pick it off....again. I just can't get inspired to quilt this piece but I don't want to do an overall stipple. Maybe I just need more coffee :)

I also dived into my box of green scraps. It was overflowing and I need a background for this guy

Isn't he absolutely the cutest!!!! ( and you can see how I create pattern for my (low poly....renamed fractured image technique)

For the background I decided to use easy scrappy 9 patch. I might change my mind but I think this will work :)

Testers and Coffee

This week was very exciting!!! I had 2 tester help me with my new technique I developed. Margaret of Life as posted two and Alida from Tweety Loves Quilting were nice enough to watch me babble in English with an heavy french accent the video of the technique tutorial I made.

They both started with the easier pattern of the fractured heart.

There is nothing like seeing someone else  using your pattern to make their own piece!!!! I love it

But then Margaret went on the Cougar pattern. She is a brave one and this is her result

Excuse me while I squeeeeeee hard.

Myself I finished the top of my "Ode to coffee". It will be perfect on my kitchen wall!!! The cup where pieced and the handles applique. I love the saying, it has humour and make me smile (after I had my first coffee)

An ode to coffee

What better first project for 2017 to make my love for coffee into a wall hanging :)  Using a layer cake I bought from Craftsy "Primitive Gatherings" from Moda.
I am ....how can I say that.....Addicted to coffee in fact the employees at the closest Tim Horton  know me and comment when I don't go for a few days :)

But live is not just about coffee....it's about a blue raccoon too :) I know it look weird right now but give it time....well that is what I am telling myself....it is the first time I try to get out of my comfort zone and used tints instead of the right colors. :)
