what a disaster!!!!

Well I finished the Diamond quilt. If it look absolutely crooked in the picture is because it is really crooked in real life!!!!!

While piecing this quilt everything was going fine and laying flat but then I decided to quilt the background before applique ing the diamond. It made the background shrink badly. I tried to block this quilt twice then quilt matchsticks on the borders in the hope that it would "eat" the extra fabric.....

it didn't work. So now the borders are waving enthusiastically at me every time I walk into my sewing room.

Sigh

At least it is finished and if a crop the picture right I will be able to use the picture to write the pattern. Thank the Goddess it is not a whole quilt. So sad because I really like the scrappy borders.

New week and feeling better

It's a brand new week and I finally feel better. It is hard to live with a chronic condition so I tend to embrace the good days.

This week on my design wall....still working on my Diamonds are a girl's best friend. Scrappy borders are so fun. You can use a roll of paper and just use the scraps you have on hand.

Those a little pearls I want to use for the quilting. One little pearl at the corners of the squares I've drawn. I will let you know if it is a brilliant idea after a few 100 of them O_O

What else, oh yes, I saw this traditional block called Ocean Waves. Loved it and would be perfect for a boat theme quilt I have in mind. The problem is that I have problems piecing triangles....I really suck at it. I am testing with paper piecing and I think I found the solution at my problem.

I am also writing the pattern for my Turtle applique. I am also doing a video because I used Inktense on the scale and it is easier to show than to write it down. She is 20" x 16" but I might make a bigger pattern too. I am not sure yet.

Fairy at moonlight

It has been a hard week regarding my health so I didn't had a lot done. I was able to "finish" my Fairy at Moonlight quilt. "Finish" because I think it still missing something. More quilting? Might be but I finished the quilt using this tutorial

Super-Duper Easy Way to Face a Quilt (Or: How to Sew a Non-Binding Binding)!

Victoria Gertenbach from The silly BooDilly blog made a great photo tutorial that is easy to follow. I asked her to do this tutorial on video to show in real time how to do this binding and she said yes. So the first video will be in French coming next week probably.

I took the picture outside because it was sunny but darn it was cold and Windy!!!!!

The reason why I might do more quilting is because as you can see in the pictures, the fabric is really bumpy and wrinkly. I hate this indecision !!!!!

Diamond are a girl's best friend

Well fabrics diamonds as far as I am concerned. This is the final colors combination I want to use. What I love to do with my fractured image pieces, is to play with lights and shadows. This one is ready to assemble.

I had many people comment on my Fractured image rabbit and how it look 3D. It is all about lights and shadows. On this rabbit, we see the play of light that give the 3D effects.

I started this eagle but it need more work to make him interesting

Or this horse....still need a lot of work. So as you can see, when you buy one of my pattern, a lot of work have been done to make sure the colors recommendations make the piece interesting.

Need colors!!!!!

Like every year in at this time, I am desperately missing bold colors!!! I live in Montreal Canada and right now everything is pretty much gray, grayish and grayer.

I can't do anything for the outside view but I am in control of my design wall. I took a kona solid jelly roll, added a yardage of white and decided to keep is simple. I intend to applique something in the white part but I am not there yet.

Under my needle too are my coffee quilt and the fairy quilt. They need to be quilted and the patterns written  My Janome Horizon (Joséphine) is at the Dr for now since I could not do adjust the bobbin's tension so my Brother (Millie) is back on my table.
