Well I finished the Diamond quilt. If it look absolutely crooked in the picture is because it is really crooked in real life!!!!!
While piecing this quilt everything was going fine and laying flat but then I decided to quilt the background before applique ing the diamond. It made the background shrink badly. I tried to block this quilt twice then quilt matchsticks on the borders in the hope that it would "eat" the extra fabric.....
it didn't work. So now the borders are waving enthusiastically at me every time I walk into my sewing room.
Sigh
At least it is finished and if a crop the picture right I will be able to use the picture to write the pattern. Thank the Goddess it is not a whole quilt. So sad because I really like the scrappy borders.

It turned out beautiful! I really love the colors and yes, that scrappy border is pretty amazing! It's tough when a quilt doesn't want to square up no matter how hard you try!

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that the extra quilting and blocking didn't flatten it out. We've all had our shares of disasters, but your center is very pretty and the border is lovely too!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read Diamond, I thought it was going to be a quilt with diamond pieces. Now that is diamond! Did you try steaming the borders when you blocked it? Probably did. I think the wavyness just adds to the piece.

ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, even if not totally straight. You can remove the binding, square the edges and then make and other binding. If you have the heart to do it... :-)
