I dream of spring

So I am making applique flowers :)

I made a few sample to see if I could design a few flowers for an idea I have. Those are the first I made but but for my secret project I need a lot more. I might be because I am just done with winter even if I can admit that this winter was not that bad, we didn't get any -40F :)

Otherwise I am working on those fat quarters still....121 done.....a gazillion to go but before I must go to my favorite fabric wholesaler....isn't that absolutely horrible? :D

Ceci et cela

It mean this and that :) This is pretty much where I am for this week. I am slowly but surely building my fat quarters I want to sell in Toronto next June. Look at those precious little bundles of joy :)

I have to finish writing the pattern for "ode to coffee"

I have 12 videos to shoot for my sponsor. Look I have a new intro and Outro. It is great what you can find on Fiverr.com!!!!

And I have a project maturing in my head with flower applique that I want to start... Hopefully I will have something to show you by the end of the week :)

Life without coffee is not worth living

I finally finished my "Coffee makes everything Okayer" I Free motion quilted all different motifs in each cups and backgrounds so I got to practice some pattern that I don't use regularly. It is far from perfect but I do not care this one will hang in my kitchen.

Me and coffee have a great relationship. Since I have Narcolepsy and none of the pharmacologie available is working, caffeine make a difference between a meh day and an ok day.

So here is my ode to coffee :)

I made is using the layer cake Miniature Gatherings by Primitive Gathering sold on Craftsy.

End of times

Don't worry, I didn't lose my marbles and started shouting at the corner of the street that "you must repent, the end of times is coming"

Like every year, Kim from Persimon Dreams Propose a series of themes and you have to make a project from start to finish in the same week. I didn't really have time to participate but this last one really spoke to me.

This week theme is be inspired by time, deadlines, or the end.

I am not a prepper and don't plan for the end of times (even if I have to admit that Trump scare the hell out of me)

Lately, the end of times seem to be a recurring theme in my life. More precisely, Pandemics. I just finished 2 books back to back exactly about this. The fantastic "The Stand" from the ever brilliant Stephen King.  It outlines the total breakdown of society after the accidental release of a strain of influenza that had been modified for biological warfare causes an apocalyptic pandemic which kills off the majority of the world's human population.

The second book is from Connie Willis "Doomsday book" Even if you do not like science fiction I highly recommend this book. First the protagonist is a female!!! It happen in 2 epoch at the same time. The future 2054 and 1348 England where an historian is sent back in time to observe the middle ages but an error put her at the horror of the black death epidemic.  The writing is beautiful and it make you love those people that are about to experience Hell on earth and make the inevitable even harder. The 2054 part didn't aged well but all is forgiven at the end of this book.

Well with all that it bring me to my project. I know it is not very imaginative but I could not take out this symbol in my head. Such a simple, even cute symbol but that it represent suffering and death.

I tried to find something less........gruesome but that symbol was in my mind and refused to leave. So here is the result.

Monday making (?)

My inspiration is still on strike on this cold Monday morning. I decided to rip my ocean waves blocks and see if sashing would help.

I am also doing my first cross stitch. I never tried before but this is fun and relaxing

And preparing the fat quarters I want to sell in my booth in Toronto.

Montréal used to be an important producer of clothing (french-Canadian were considered cheap labor) With time a lot of the manufacturers went to counties like China and India, but we can still find big fabrics wholesalers here and I know a few of them. I call them my Alibaba Caves :) That is how I can sell good quilting cotton for a low price. Aren't they cute!!! (and if I don't sell them....well more for me lol)

Piecing yourself in a corner

I think I have pieced myself in a corner with my "Ocean Waves" quilt.

4 blocks feel....unfinished.....and a bit dizzy too lol

I then put it on point and tried adding big triangles

I am partial to this layout but there is a chance that this piece end up as a UFO.....one more or one less :)

Sometime it is good to just put a project aside and let it breath a little.

Well that is interesting

I made a second block based on The ocean waves traditional pattern and the effect is quite nice. I don't have enough of the white fabric but tomorrow i will go look if I can buy more. If not I will find a plan B. I now want to see how it will look with 4 blocks. I do not have anything else on my design wall right but I am slowly getting back into my sewing room.

Paper piecing Ocean waves block

This week was not a very good week regarding inspiration or just envy to sit at my sewing machine. I just lost my mojo.

I was still able to finish one paper piecing block I designed based on the Ocean waves traditional block. It is a 17" block so just 4 of those would make a nice center for a small quilt.

Lost

Lost : Mojo

If found please bring back as it is dearly missed.

I am having a blah, no inspiration, nothing excite me, time

I need a banner for the booth I rented at the 2017 expo in Toronto in June. I used an antique linen and started quilting it. I hate it.

I also started the ocean waves block paper piecing. I do not feel inspired.

I have pattern to write and I can make myself do it.

Sigh

Hopefully it won't last. I like it better when I have to many idea!!!!
