This, that and O.M.G. Canada Quilt is in 2 weeks

Last week I was working on my kitty....

but I had to stop to make a last minute quilt for Canada Quilt 2017. Like I said a million times before I took the plunge and rented a booth (booth 129....come say hi!!!)
I was able to produce 19 new quilts for the occasion. Hubby is the one responsible to print the patterns, a friend make sure my English is good and I make sure I have sample quilts for every patterns and make sure I cut all the threads (which seam to grow back every time I take a look)

I have to do another "The ballerina" sample quilt because I gave away the original to a little girl. It is a good thing that it is a very easy quilt to do and fun to do with the bling in her hairs and a 3D tulle tutu :) It is only 42" x 48"

Back to the sewing machine!!!!

Fractured image Cat

On my design wall this week is this fractured image Cat. The finished cat will have eyes and on this drawing it is missing his paws lol.
It will be in the same style as my Fox quilt

I have not done a Fractured image piece for a few months, it feel good to go back to my own technique.

I should have something interesting to show you at the end of the week :)

Edit.....look at this face :) He is happier than he look right now LOL

Round Robin

I think almost a year and a half ago a group of 6 was formed to a group to do a round robin :)

Each person make a center block and then send it to the next person, that will add something then send it to the next one.

I just received mine and I absolutely love it. :) Started to think how to quilt it :)

I am also juggling with a few fractured image ideas

This eagle would be perfect for my American friends :)

This mama and baby cat ......so sweet

I am a teacher!!!!

Last Saturday I gave my first Quilting 101 class!!!

Ok I only had one student...but that way I was able to test my class plan and see if it worked in the time I had.
My class included

-Essential Tools
-Example of different quilt making technique
-How to choose your fabric (with a bit on color Theory)
-Preparing and cutting fabric
-Quilt construction (strip piecing, chain piecing , making HST, pressing the seam, butting the seam and calculations for borders
-Sandwish ing
-Hand and machine quilting
-Binding

I think it cover the whole thing :)

My student was able to make her first "finished quilt" in the 3.5 hours of the class and left with a smile on her face. I can't ask for more :)

This is the "Quilt" I had her made....I think it cover the basics quilt well.(This one is mine)

Next Saturday I will give the class again and I might have as many as 4 students, and I have to give it in french and in english at the same time!!!! Can't wait :)

Stress sewing

I don't know how it is for your but the latest news event is stressing me out. The answer for me is to start an improv quilt......and just let the mindless sewing calm me down and what better color than blue. My bin of blue scarp is overflowing anyway.

Finish Friday

From my list I made in the beginning of the week, only the baby Dragon is finish. I didn't do anything fancy on it just stippling because the background is so busy anyway!!! Really happy with the result :) He is so darn cute !!!!

This pattern is available on Craftsy

And I was successful at not starting anything new :) Quite something when you spend way too much time on Pinterest and reading quilting blog :)

Quilting quilting quilting

First let me tell you about something that made me Squeeee like a little girl.....I am giving my first class of free motion quilting in 2 weeks!!!! Oh my I am excited and terrified at the same time. I have to make a plan for a 5 week class. Hopefully I won't crash and burn.

My plan this week is "NOT TO START ANYTHING NEW" (sorry I am screaming at myself) and free motion quilt my "Baby dragon" quilt, about time it has been on my "to do" list for 6 months.

Quilt my "Ugly Christmas Sweater" quilt. I had to pick out the first quilting first because I didn't liked to look of it and since it will hang in my booth at the Toronto Quilt Show I want it to look nice.

And finally quilt my "Spanish tiles" table runner
